Swimming Pools across Active Wirral leisure centres

Customer Notice – July 2026

Due to essential health and safety maintenance works in the swimming pool areas at Guinea Gap Leisure Centre, the following temporary closure remains in place:

Training Pool Closed from: Monday 15 June 2026

Leisure Pool closed from Tuesday 14th July 2026

Invigor8 Members & Swimming Lessons

Invigor8 members and casual users can access swimming pools at Active Wirral leisure centre including Europa, Leasowe, Oval and West Kirby Concourse. Alternatively members can request to suspend a subscription, please contact the central team in writing at bookingsandinformation@wirral.gov.uk 

Some swimming lessons may be impacted, customers will be contacted with information regarding lessons in advance of any changes.

We would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding while these important works are carried out. Updates and further information will be shared as soon as possible.

Customer Notice – Monday 25th May

Leisure Centres and Woodchurch Community Football Hub are closed on Bank Holiday Monday 25th May 2026. 

Golf courses remain open.

Price Increase 1st April 2026 – Customer Notice 

A price increase for activities, facilities, products, swimming lessons and Invigor8 memberships will be implemented in line with WBC Fees and Charges from Monday 1st April 2026.

Invigor8 memberships prices can be viewed here and remain a cost effective way to access a wide range of fitness facilities and activities.

Term time swimming pool programme

The school term time pool programme is in operation between Monday 1st June to Sunday 19th June 2026.

School holiday pool programme 

The school holiday pool programmes run throughout the Wirral School holiday periods and can be viewed online a week prior to the start of the holidays.

Swimming lessons 

Term dates 2026/27
Autumn Term Tuesday 1st Sept - Sunday 20th Dec
Spring Term Monday 4th Jan - Sunday 28th March
Summer Term Monday 13th April - Sunday 19th July

Leisure centres and swimming pools are closed on Bank Holidays including 25th, 26th December, 1st January, and 31st August lessons are cancelled and not charged. 

Active Wirral’s Swimming Lesson programme offers Swimming Lessons in Wirral for children aged 3+ irrespective of their ability and is delivered through the Swim England award scheme.

The programme criteria takes a child who has never been in the water before and guides them through all stages to becoming a competent swimmer or developing strength and technique.
