ACTIVE WIRRAL GYM FACILITIES
Active Wirral Gym facilities are located at Bidston Sports and Activity Centre, Leasowe, Oval, West Kirby, Europa and Guinea Gap Leisure Centres.
All gym users are required to be registered and complete a compulsory gym induction, provided free of charge with a live subscription eg Invigor8 membership, Health pass or Introduction pass.
Once an induction and health based questionnaire is completed, customer accounts are updated to provide access. Gym opening times, access and prices can be viewed below.
Payment options include free access with an Invigor8 membership or customers may pay per visit.
Easter Bank Holiday Opening Hours
Active Wirral Leisure Centres and Wirral Watersports Centre will be open as usual on Saturday 4 April and Sunday 5 April.
They will be closed on the Bank Holidays: Friday 3 April and Monday 6 April.
Active Wirral Golf courses will remain open throughout the Easter weekend.
Price Increase 1st April 2026 – Customer Notice
A price increase for activities, facilities, products, swimming lessons and Invigor8 memberships will be implemented in line with WBC Fees and Charges from Wednesday 1st April 2026.

Brand new gym equipment and £1 million upgrade in Leisure Centres is now complete!
An extensive range of new gym and fitness machines and equipment has now been installed at; West Kirby Concourse, Guinea Gap Leisure Centre, Leasowe Leisure Centre and The Oval as part of a wider transformation programme for Active Wirral services.
The state-of-the-art equipment allows gym users to access personalised training programmes and receive instant feedback, with entertainment options to help motivate every workout.
New equipment includes:
- Cardio equipment such as treadmills, cross trainers, rowers, bikes and the addition of verticlimbers, ski-ergs and stepmills for those customers who prefer a more energetic gym session.
- Strength training options such as hip-thrust, standing squat machine, a variation of a pec fly and lat pull down – these machines are popular within the fitness industry.
- IFI approved (Inclusive Fitness Initiative) equipment for users that have mobility issues and/or use wheelchairs.
New customers are welcome to try the gym before signing up to a membership with a Free 3 day gym pass which includes a free gym induction where you can speak to our experienced helpful staff and discuss what you want to achieve from visiting the gym. Alternatively, if you have been a member before and want to return, simply join online, on the telephone or at your nearest leisure centre and start your fitness journey immediately.
Functional Training Studio NOW OPEN
Phase 2 of our Gym installation has now been completed with the opening of a brand new Functional Training Studio. New life has been given to an unused court and it is now a high-energy, functional training studio designed for our fitness community.
